Random Thought on Marketers
How come every time I go to a developers' conference Twitter lights up, but when I go to a marketing conference there are no tweets at all? Why is there so little blog coverage of what goes on at these marketing-focused conferences?
I think that's the problem…not enough marketers — or even agency folks — are using social media technologies and platforms (other than party pics on myspace and facebook, of course). They should be blogging. Microblogging. Sharing.
How can you innovate if you're not making innovation a part of your life?

Totally agree, especially with interactive marketing conferences. I am surprised how few blog and twits I see from IAB, OMMA, MediaPost, etc.
I do Twitter from marketing conferences when I go, as well as all the tech ones. Entirely agree with you on the people who try and sell the products to clients not using them – without being involved, you can’t understand which means your executions are usually going to be wrong
I have had many conversations on the Twitter topic and it comes down to marketers not understanding the value of twitter. Unfortunately they do not see the meaningful conversations going on and the abundance of information on it.
i agree. i’d guess that less than a quarter of the staff of any given ad agency uses an rss aggreggator, much less twitter or a peronal blog.
